About the Guarantee fund

Our story

It is unfortunate but common knowledge in the kitchen industry that there are always new companies starting up ready to give it a go, but as with most businesses, not everyone will succeed.

Too often, consumers have been falling victim, when such companies fail and are in placed in Receivership. Such consumers would have paid deposits worth thousands of dollars. Many did not succeed in getting their money back or even their kitchen.

With such substantial investments, you want to feel confident that your deposit is going to secure you a new kitchen. Renovations are often stressful enough without the added nightmare of losing your precious savings.

That’s why John van Doormaal, kitchen entreprenuer, in 2002 introduced a consumer friendly way of not only guaranteeing your kitchen but safeguarding your deposit as well.

The Kitchen Guarantee Fund was born and a leader in the New Zealand kitchen industry for sustainable business practise.

Reliability and Credibility

The consumer needs to have the assurance that the fund can safeguard their deposit paid to the Kitchen Supplier as well as any future warranty claims for their kitchen.

The fund has capital investments to cover deposits held by the Kitchen Suppliers as well as each Kitchen Supplier deposits cash with the fund to cover any future warranties.

No Kitchen Supplier can be a member of the fund without this cash paid to the fund based on their turnover and warranty claims history.

The fund governance requires the fund to remain open until the last warranty date of the last kithen registered.

These policies and statements can be verified by our accountants Knobloch & Associates Ltd – Chartered Accountants.

Protecting Your Money

Kitchen Guarantee Fund covers your deposit from the day you pay it to your kitchen supplier and your kitchen is registered with the fund.

Nervous about paying for a product you haven’t yet seen?

The next biggest concern, now that your deposit is secure, is paying the balance before the kitchen is even installed. You now have the option of depositing your kitchen balance in the KGF trust account.

How does it work?

  • Pay your deposit to your Kitchen supplier member and register your kitchen with KGF by completing the registration card when you sign your kitchen supply contract.

  • Before delivery of your kitchen you have the option of paying the balance owing to the KGF trust account.

  • If the balance is paid to the KGF trust account:
    • 40% of the balance is paid to your Kitchen Supplier on delivery as requested by the Kitchen supplier and the goods received by you.

    • The remaining 10% of the value of the kitchen remains in the KGF trust account until you sign the funds release authorisation form on the completion of the installation as per your kitchen supply contract and any variations.

  • Funds are held on behalf of or “in trust” for you and no claim exists on these funds until authorised.

  • Disclaimer: The fund will not hold unreleased balances longer than six months once notified by the Kitchen supplier the contract is complete unless there is a dispute or valid reason for withholding transfer of the balance to the Kitche supplier.
